Online threats were sent to three schools across Manitoba on Tuesday.

According to RCMP, Carman, Thompson, and Beausejour, each had students who received menacing messages between noon and 8 PM on Tuesday.

In Beausejour, RCMP received reports of social media threats made towards students at École Edward Schreyer School and have since arrested a male youth from the RM of Springfield.

Carman Collegiate and the R.D. Parker Collegiate in Thompson also had students who were threatened online.

In all three cases, the suspects were males ranging in age from 13-17.

Each respective suspect has been arrested by police and charges are pending.

Manitoba RCMP would like to remind parents and guardians to speak to their children about social media responsibility.

“[People’s] actions on social media can have serious consequences and can lead to criminal charges," indicates Corporal Julie Courchaine of the Manitoba RCMP. She encourages students to alert an authority whenever they see any concerning activity online.
