Chief Nursing Officer Lanette Siragusa thanks Manitoba residents for the many displays of support that have been shown to health-care workers.Public health officials say three new cases of COVID-19 were identified as of 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

That brings the total number of lab-confirmed positive and probable positive cases in Manitoba to 253.

There are now 108 active cases and 140 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19. Seven individuals are currently hospitalized, which includes four individuals in intensive care. The total number of deaths in Manitoba due to COVID-19 remains at five.

A total of 19,193 tests have been performed in the province since early February. Public health officials are now expanding testing criteria to include:

  • All symptomatic workers or volunteers at workplaces that have been identified as essential services.
  • Any symptomatic person who lives with a health-care worker, first responder or worker in a congregate setting such as a correctional facility, shelter, long-term care or residential facility.
