“The whole thing is amazing, it’s incredible, every year it continues to blow me away!”

Joy Neufeld, the Coordinator of Soup’s On, was stunned by the money raised at the season’s first Taste of Summer Charity BBQ on Wednesday.

$2,044.82 was the total amount of money raised during the charity event; money which Neufeld says will be put to good use.

“That is more than fabulous,” she exclaims, “1,000 children will receive a nice lunch because of this… that’s wonderful!”

Neufeld says Soup’s On began 15 years ago when a little girl told her she hadn’t eaten all day. It has since mushroomed into a large program that provides lunches and snacks for hundreds of kids per week.

Neufeld and her volunteers show no signs of stopping either.

“We keep talking, and planning, and scheming about how we can do this more effectively and efficiently,” comments Neufeld. “As long as people are willing to love and care we are just going to keep going.”
