The annual New Bothwell Cheese and Wine Festival has a new home this year, giving organizers more room to play with.

Myron Vogt, the Secretary of the Bothwell Cheese and Wine Committee, says the festival has been around for 15 years. He notes it's a fun, classy evening and as the name would suggest, there will be plenty of cheese and wine.

“We're going to have at least 10 wine reps there and possibly a few more, a few beer samplers are going to be there and then we have some other local vendors that come and set up their tables. We have Prairie Oils and Vinegars, they'll be there, our own local Country Smokehouse from Bothwell, they'll be there with their wares and passing out free samples for everybody whose attending."

Of course, Bothwell Cheese has been an important partner of the festival since the beginning and Vogt says everything they have to offer will be available to try. He adds “We're going to have a photo booth there so people can capture their memories of the event, lots of stuff to do throughout the evening.”

Vogt says they’re also excited about the brand-new venue for the New Bothwell Cheese and Wine Festival.

“We actually went and doubled our floor space, this year we have a nice big covering over top of the rink surface area, that's now our new venue.”

Last year, Vogt says they had trouble keeping the temperature down in the tent they had set up, but that shouldn’t be an issue this time around. He notes it is too warm, they can open things up and if it is too breezy, there are tarps that can go up around the rink to mitigate wind.

In addition, he notes “The added floor space allows us to bring in more vendors this year. Last year it was awesome because it was shoulder to shoulder because we were so packed but this year there will be a little bit more breathing room with the double floor space that we have.”

Vogt says tickets are $50 per person and everything inside is included. He notes it is a very enjoyable event and the proceeds go to a great cause.

"[Funds are] going to be staying within the community. Some of the upgrades that we've done, as an example, those tarps that we put up around the boards, that was all through money that was raised by this event. All the money is staying local and helping to improve the Community Center there.”

The New Bothwell Wine and Cheese Festival is an 18+ event.
