The concert series is coming up soon and SAC is excited to have many talented musicians in this years’ lineup.

The season is starting a little later this year, with the first concert being on November 30th.

Tara Schellenberg, Performing Arts Coordinator with SAC, says with this concert series, SAC wanted to make sure they met the demands of the people.

“We've done a lot of work reaching out to our audience and we have a performing arts committee that we work with to really make sure that we're offering what the community wants to see. We try and kind of have something for everyone and offer a really well-rounded concert series as a whole.”

The concert series kicks off with the Manitoba Hydro Holiday Tour with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.

David Klassen, Director of SAC, shares more details about what is all to come in the concert series.

“In early February, we have Notas de 4. We have got a flamenco night planned for everyone. I think that one is going to be a super exciting concert event this year.”

After that, Mix Tapes From My Mom presented by Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre is scheduled for mid-March.

Then in April, Prairie Debut brings Buzz Brass, a group of five brass players from Montreal.

“They're very funny, very engaging, and entertaining to watch and to listen to, and they've got a great concert lined up.”

Then the concert series wraps up later in May with the Desautels Piano Trio featuring Judy Kehler-Siebert who’s a local pianist.

“It's sort of a well-rounded event for the year, and we're happy to present every single one of these.”

Klassen notes not everyone knows how they develop their concert series every year.

The last weekend in October, SAC is hosting the Manitoba Showcase.

“We're a member of the Manitoba Arts Network, and they work together with all rural presenters in Manitoba to help put together concert series, and they tour artists from across Canada. So as a network, we choose artists that tour through our province.”

Late in October, SAC is bringing performing artists and visual artists from across Canada, and they are showcasing them right here in Steinbach.

“Those performances, there's three of them. They usually feature about seven or eight artists per concert, they are all going to be open to the public. So once the time is right, there will be tickets available on our website, and we would love to engage the local audience to come and check it out.”

Shellenberg says this is a great opportunity to experience and get into the concert season before it really starts in November.

“These are going to be performing artists and visual artists from across the country and even from outside of Canada, so it's very cool to be able to have this convergence of great talent in our community.”
