Deerfield pathway looking east from Hespler Street

Work is winding down on most of the summer street and sidewalk construction projects in Steinbach.

Mayor Chris Goertzen notes street work on Reimer Avenue, east of Henry Street(right), and on Pine Crescent did fall a bit behind schedule but will be completed soon. He says, "There were some setbacks in regards to timing of a few things, but we can see it now progressing quickly. In the next few weeks, we hope to see it wind up."

Construction of the Deerfield pathway is almost finished with installation of lights and landscaping underway. Meanwhile, paving of Chapel Drive has been completed with only a bit of landscaping left to do while paving of Willow Crescent was completed last month.

Mayor Goertzen adds it has been a busy summer for infrastructure improvements and adds, "It's important that we continue to make sure that we don't fall behind on infrastructure. And you can see council acting on that. We have a number of different programs in place, whether it's the underground infrastructure, whether it's the asphalt overlay or whether it's connecting different neighbourhoods with sidewalks and regional pathways. This is all important to make sure that we maintain the great standards we have in our city and continue to grow."
