Mavis Plett hoping we'll plan for sober drivers.
She would be celebrating her 28th birthday this month, if she hadn't been killed 8 years ago by a drunk driver.  Raelene Plett died on August 21st, 1998 and her mom is sharing her story with youth in our city, hoping to prevent them from drinking and driving.  Mavis Plett says she still cries once in a while, when a certain song plays, or there's a special holiday to celebrate.  She hopes parents will set a good example and promise to always be available if our kids need a safe ride home.  Driving instructors invite her to talk to their classes and she tells the students, "if you drink, it's your business.  if you drink and drive, it's everybody's business."
