The MLA for Steinbach says the Progressive Conservatives will work hard on their rebuilding process this year under new leader Brian Pallister. In an interview about what lies ahead in 2013, Kelvin Goertzen says a big part of PC's plans in the coming 12 months will be a series of meetings to listen to Manitobans.

"We're going to engage in a policy process that's going to take us across the province, meeting not just with our party members, but meeting with all Manitobans to try and get ideas on policy, to get the pulse of the province as it were, to find out what is important going forward. That process is starting earlier than we normally would (in between elections) which is a good thing."

Meanwhile, Goertzen expects economic issues will remain at the forefront for the province in 2013 as the world continues its fragile recovery.

"We see a tepid recovery in the United States and a grudging recovery in Canada and so that's going to continue to be a focus for us. We want to see what the government's plan is, a real plan, to bring the province back into budget."

Locally, he says he will continue to press the government for improvements to highways in Steinbach and area as well as for more personal care home beds.
