The city of Steinbach would like to hear from those impacted by this summer's equipment malfunction at its lift station on Loewen Boulevard.

According to the city, it was a temporary equipment malfunction that happened at Lift Station #2 during the night of August 17.

Currently, the city's consultants are investigating the incident to determine the possible cause. As the investigation continues, impacted property owners or tenants are being asked to share details of their clean up and restoration costs. This information should be presented to the city's claims adjusters.

Owners or tenants who were impacted will be contacted once the investigation process is complete.

Those who experienced sewer backup and have already reached out to the city will be contacted directly by its claims adjusters. Those who have not yet done so are asked to contact Adam Thiessen, Corporate Services Manager at adam.thiessen@steinbach.ca or by phone at 204-346-6530 to provide their contact information.

The city says Lift Station #2 is operating normally. Steinbach has a total of six lift stations that are responsible for pumping wastewater to the city's wastewater lagoon facility for treatment.

The city's water supply is a separate system and was not impacted by this event.
