The head engineer for the City of Steinbach says contractors are making good progress on the city's summer construction projects. Phil Kalyta says excavation has been completed for sidewalks along Lyndhurst Gate and Brighton Lane.

"Base work is on the way and concrete should be in this week. We're also going to be starting excavation this week on Parkhill Crescent for the sidewalk there."

Excavation will begin this week for sidewalks along Parkhill Blvd.

Concrete repairs are underway on Hespeler StreetAs for the only street re-paving project planned in Steinbach this summer, Kalyta says crews have started preliminary work on Hespeler Street between Loewen Boulevard and Tower Avenue.

"We're going to start on some concrete repairs this week. The actual road work, with the milling (of the old asphalt) and the asphalt work, won't start until the first week of June."

He says the milling and paving should take about two weeks to complete.

Meanwhile, work continues on one block of Mckenzie Avenue between Highway #12 and Lilac Bay. The asphalt is being removed and replaced with concrete, a project that is slated for completion in early July.
