There’s a lot of action this weekend at the Steinbach ball diamonds.

Andrea Bergen's daughter, Aliya, plays with the U-13 Steinbach Storm.

She says it’s a great atmosphere with lots of softball games and plenty of teams to cheer on.

“The whole Steinbach community comes out, parents, grandparents, it’s a big family event and it’s fun to be here,” she says from the canteen where she’s volunteering this weekend. “Bring your whole family, come watch, there’s no fee.”

Bergen adds the canteen will be open all weekend with burgers and hot dogs, as well as drinks and snacks.

Natalie Carriere is enjoying time at the ball diamonds, watching her granddaughter Nevaeh Hebert who plays with the U-11 team from St. Malo.

“It teaches her structure, teamwork, and she’s having fun at it, she’s enjoying it,” says the proud grandmother.

The weekend tournament involves teams from across the province in U11, U13, U15, and U17. It wraps up on Sunday.
