A ribbon cutting ceremony took place at the brand new skateboard park in the town of Ste. Anne Friday evening.

Jamie Rodger and her son Jordan have been waiting for this day for nearly eight years. Jamie says, "It started back in 2008 when I was sitting down with my Justice Committee, and we were discussing how there was nothing for kids to do in town. So my son suggested a skateboard park, and they were 100% behind me."

Rodger says, after applying for grants and fundraising, the skateboard park is finally complete. "It was important to me because I know how much my son and his friends like it, and how it brings people together. After driving my son all over Manitoba to different parks, it will be good to finally have one in Ste. Anne."

Mayor Richard Pelletier says it means a lot for the Town to have more activities for youth because they are the future of the community. He says over the last few weeks, he's noticed a lot of activity at the skate park which he says is very exciting.
