The Eastman Selects gave up five third period goals and lost 7-2 to the Winnipeg Wild Friday night at the Sun Gro Centre in Beausejour. Bryce Warkentine had both goals for the Selects who outshot the Wild 49-23. Eastman netminder Andrew Blahy made 16 saves. The Wild lead the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League’s best-of-five semifinal two games to none. Game three goes Sunday at Bell MTS Iceplex.

 

Nolan Ritchie had two goals and two assists as Brandon beat Prince Albert 5-3 at Westoba Place. Jake Chiasson, Riley Ginnell and Tyson Zimmer also scored for the Wheat Kings who snapped their six-game losing skid.

 

The Manitoba Moose lost 4-3 to Chicago. Josh Leivo scored his second goal of the game with three seconds left in overtime for the Wolves. Jeff Malott, Mikey Eyssimont and C.J. Suess scored in regulation for the Moose.

 

Kerri Einarson finished the round robin in third place with a 9-3 record and will face Madeleine Dupont of Denmark in a qualification game at 3 p.m. at the 2022 World Women’s Curling Championship in Prince George. The winner will meet EunJung Kim of Korea in the semifinals.

 

Manitoba champions Jordon McDonald and Tansy Tober along with finalists Aaron Van Ryssel and Morgan Maguet are competing at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships which begin today in Stratford, Ontario.
