The 2022 Manitoba Junior Hockey League Draft takes place today at 3 p.m. The Steinbach Pistons have the 11th pick in round one. The expansion Niverville Nighthawks will pick fourth. The Winkler Flyers own the number one overall pick.


Steinbach Regional lost 15-6 to Garden City in the quarterfinals at the Provincial High School Baseball Championship in Brandon.


St. Joachim edged Pilot Mound 5-4 and lost 17-16 to Stonewall in the round robin at the Provincial High School Fastpitch Championship in Brandon. In the playoffs the Braves lost 8-2 to Boissevain as the Broncos advanced to the quarterfinals.


Steinbach Regional lost a pair of games on day one of the Provincial AAAA High School Varsity Boys Soccer Championship in Winnipeg. The Sabres fell 2-1 to West Kildonan in the quarterfinals and 3-2 to Linden Christian in the consolation semifinals.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes gave up four two-out runs in the top of the seventh inning and lost 10-8 to the Lincoln Saltdogs. Max Murphy homered twice for the Fish who lead 5-0 after the first inning.


Jamie Roy of Quarry Oaks defeated Jacob Taweel of Elmhurst on the 19th hole Friday and will face Ryan Blair of Elmhurst in the quarterfinals at the Provincial Men’s Match Play Championship at Quarry. Kate Gregoire of Quarry Oaks will meet Mikyla Albert of Selkirk in the round of 16 in the Women's Division.


The University of Manitoba Bisons men's golf team finished the Canadian University/College Golf Championship in Bromont, Quebec in 17th place. Stefan Lavallee finished at plus five, Connor Stewart was plus 18, Cole Peters and Brent Ingram were plus 20 and Lachlan Allerton was plus 37.
