Isaac Gordon scored the shootout winner as the Eastman Selects edged the Winnipeg Wild 6-5 Sunday at Bell MTS Iceplex. Carter Johannesson and Bryce Warkentine scored two goals each in regulation for the Selects while the other went to Cole Gratton. Eastman led 2-0 after the first period and trailed 5-2 after 40 minutes. The Selects finished the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League regular season schedule with a record of 31-6-3. Eastman is tied for first place with Brandon. The Wild are in third place just two points back. The Wheat Kings have two games left and the Wild have four.

 

The Steinbach Pistons game against the Winkler Flyers scheduled for Sunday night at the T.G. Smith Centre was postponed due to road/weather conditions.

 

The Canadian women's hockey team will play for gold at the 2022 Beijing Winter Games. Marie-Philip Poulin scored twice as Canada downed Switzerland 10-3 in the semifinals. In curling - Jennifer Jones defeated Alina Kovaleva of the Russian Olympic Committee 11-5 and downed Eve Muirhead of Great Britain 7-3. Jones has a 3-3 record. Brad Gushue is 4-2 after beating Joël Retornaz of Italy 7-3. Bobsledder Christine de Bruin of Stony Plain won bronze today. Canada's medal count is 15 with one gold, four silver and 10 bronze.
