Canada will face host Switzerland today (10 a.m.) in the quarterfinals at the 2024 World Women’s U18 Hockey Championship in Zug. Canada finished the preliminary round in first place in Group A with a 3-0 record.


The Winnipeg Jets play their second of a four-game homestand tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks at Canada Life Centre. The Jets have won seven in a row and are riding a 13-game points streak.


The Manitoba Moose lost 4-0 to Belleville. Senators goaltender Mads Sogaard made 27 saves in recording the shutout.


Montreal and Minnesota were winners in the Professional Women’s Hockey League Wednesday night. Marie-Philip Poulin had a hat trick as Montreal downed New York 6-2. Elm Creek’s Corinne Schroeder stopped 30 of 35 shots she faced in net for New York. Taylor Heise had two goals and an assist as Minnesota beat Toronto 3-1. Brandon’s Kristen Campbell made 26 saves in net for Toronto.
