Local members of the Manitoba Legislative Assembly have expanded their portfolios on Tuesday.

The leader of the Official Opposition, Wayne Ewasko announced changes to the critic portfolios of the Manitoba PC.

This includes Bob Lagassé, MLA for Dawson Trail, taking on Sport, Culture, Heritage and Tourism while still managing his existing responsibility for Francophone Affairs.

Konrad Narth, MLA for La Vérendrye, will add Transportation and Infrastructure to his responsibilities in the opposition’s shadow cabinet along with his role with the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation.

Along with these southeastern politicians, others in the PC caucus saw changes on Tuesday, including:

  • Doyle Piwniuk, MLA for Turtle Mountain, will take on responsibility for Manitoba Public Insurance and Efficiency Manitoba, on top of his duties as Caucus Whip.
  • Obby Khan, MLA for Fort Whyte, will add Manitoba Hydro and the Public Utilities Board to his existing responsibilities for Finance and the Manitoba Public Service.
  • Carrie Hiebert, MLA for Morden-Winkler, will add Mental Health to her existing responsibilities for Housing, Addictions and Homelessness.
  • Grant Jackson, MLA for Spruce Woods, will assume responsibility for the Education and Early Childhood Learning portfolio.

The spring legislative session began on March 6.
