Single-family residential development in Niverville has been strong through the first quarter of 2019.

There were 11 single-family housing starts in the first three months of the year and a total building permit value of $3,353,791. Over the same period in 2018, permits were pulled for 7 single family houses, a 12-plex, and two 4-plexes for a total permit value of $3,725,000.

Niverville Mayor Myron Dyck says the significant dip in multi-family housing development is nothing to worry about this early in the year.

"There was a lot built and so maybe some of it needs to be filled in order to create demand. Multi-family and single-family, they kind of ebb and flow, the year is early so hopefully, soon we will see more."

Dyck says they anticipate quite a lot of non-residential construction in Niverville this year.

"On the commercial side, we know that there are things pending both in the business park and on Main Street. We have the Co-op expansion, and obviously, the CRC is a huge one. It is spring so there are a lot of people that are interested so it is just a matter of how much will actually be realized in 2019."
