Steinbach's Schinkel Properties has acquired another motel in Winnipeg. Bob Schinkel says they have purchased Motel One along the Trans-Canada Highway, just east of Lagimodiere Boulevard.

He adds they have invested serious money into the building and also rebranded it. "It was unbranded for a number of years and we've branded it back to a Super 8 again. The idea is that it will create more awareness for travellers coming through." Schinkel says they've invested $800,000.00 in upgrades to the 60 room facility. He explains, "We've done a total renovation of the whole property. We've done drywall, paint, some new windows, new flooring, all new furniture, everything inside and out is pretty much brand new."

This is the Schinkel's fourth hotel. They also own the 49-room Day's Inn in Steinbach, the 37-room Heartland Inn in Winkler and 70-room Motel 6 in Headingly. Are they planning further acquisitions? He says, "Nothing in the very near future. We're just trying to swallow this and get everything running smoothly. We need to take a little time to breath."
