The Steinbach Regional Secondary School scored late in each period and defeated the Lorette Scorpions 5-2 Wednesday at the T.G. Smith Centre.

Nico Chiasson found the back of the net with 50 seconds remaining in the first period to get the Sabres on the board and even the contest at 1-1.

Colin Hillyard scored with 76 seconds left in the middle period to give the SRSS a 3-2 lead.

And Matthew Broesky completed his hat-trick scoring into an empty net with 28 seconds remaining in the game.

Kaan Bitchok and Carson Plaisier did the goal scoring for the Scorpions.

Steinbach Regional netminder Oliver Peters made 25 saves.

The Sabres, who have a 13-2-1 record in the Winnipeg High School Hockey League's Free Press Division, will play in Sanford Thursday night.

The opening face-off is at 6 p.m.
