Manitoba's Wheat City will soon have a Steinbach flavour. That is because S.A.R. has announced plans to expand into Brandon.

But, that is not the only significant change announced by the power sports company. On Monday, Kurtis Enns went public that he and Kevin Barkman have purchased S.A.R. He says it is a move that has been in the works since January.

S.A.R. began as a vehicle reconditioning and truck accessory decal shop on Brandt Street. A couple of moves later, they are now located along Highway 12, on the northern outskirts of the city. Enns says on June 1st, he and Barkman officially took ownership from Randy Wolgemuth, who has retired and Adam Crookes who is staying on as Sales Manager.

Enns says for him, power sports has always been a passion of his, falling in love with motorcycles and snowmobiles at the age of five. But S.A.R. is becoming more than just a dealer for land machines. Enns says they are planning to expand their product line, to include Starcraft boats and Tige surf boats.

As mentioned, S.A.R. will soon have a presence in Brandon. Enns, who also owns Reimer Overhead Doors, says over the last two decades he has been doing a lot of business in Brandon. Seeing a real need for a door company there, Enns says the two businesses will share space and call the place S.A.R. Brandon. He expects to open in July.

S.A.R. in Steinbach employs 13 people. Enns says their Brandon location will have about six staff.
