A woman was extricated from her vehicle following a rollover Thursday

A single vehicle rollover on Provincial Road 303 sent one woman to hospital Thursday morning with minor injuries.

Kleefeld fire crews and Steinbach RCMP responded to the call shortly before 11 am.

Fire Chief John Schroeder explains what happened.

"The pickup truck was east on Ridge Road and you can see the conditions on the highway here.  She lost control, hit the ditch and flipped...she ended up on the driver's side.  She seems to be ok, no serious injuries.  We had to extricate her from the vehicle."

Schroeder, the woman was lucky her injuries weren't more serious, "Yes, she was very lucky, that's for sure."

RCMP Cst. Andrew Jurcina said the woman was headed to Steinbach to pickup her husband.  Jurcina agrees it could have been much worse.

"Given the conditions today, it's lucky no one else was on the road at the time."

RCMP continue to investigate.

Jurcina says highways across the southeast are in poor condition.  He adds if drivers are heading out this afternoon and evening, they should exercise extreme caution.

"Definitely think twice before heading out on the road.  Definitely know where you are going and just be careful."
