Flood conditions in the R.M. of Piney improved significantly over the weekend, but the municipality continues to monitor weather conditions.

Chief Administrative Officer Martin Van Osch says the water has receded over the last couple of days but the ground is still saturated so even a small amount of rainfall could turn into runoff and cause more localized flooding.

"We had some scattered showers early this morning in the far east end of the municipality. We watched those closely. We heard of heavy rains for about an hour in the Sprague area, it did increase water levels in the Sprague River slightly but not to a point of concern. There are some more showers to move through the area later today. We will monitor those closely."

Van Osch says the area of concern in Piney is the Sundown and Sirko area which borders the R.M. of Stuartburn.
