The Wildfire Program of Manitoba Sustainable Development advises a forest fire near Beresford Lake has grown to cover 13,000 hectares. Currently 25 people have been evacuated from 10 of the 75 cabins in subdivisions at Beresford Lake. An additional six people from two remote cottages were evacuated from the area.

At this time nine water bombers from Ontario and Manitoba are working on the forest fires near the Manitoba/Ontario border.

A bulletin from the government of Manitoba says the fire six kilometres northeast of Caddy Lake, on the Manitoba/Ontario border is approximately 700 hectares large. Ontario has taken over the suppression operations for the wildfire with Manitoba crews assisting.

The bulletin also says burning permits for the eastern area of the province remain cancelled and motorized back country travel is banned between noon and 7 p.m. daily in southeastern Manitoba. The boundry of the restricted area is from Provincial Road 302 east to the Ontario border and from the U.S. Border north to the Wanipigow River.

Certain hiking trails are closed until wildfire conditions improve including the Manitario, Whiteshell Provincial Park, Hunt Lake, and McGillivray Falls hiking trails.
