The intersection of Highway 12 and Provincial Road 210 is getting a makeover.

Minister of Infrastructure Ron Schuler attended the intersection Thursday morning to announce five safety measures the province intends to make.

“This intersection now far exceeds what it was designed for,” says Schuler, “so we’re going to spend a year and we’re going to look at designing something safer.”

In the meantime, Manitoba Infrastructure will be adding flashing lights on the PR 210 stop sign, rumble strips leading up to Highway 12, a sign indicating a 70 km per hour reduction for eastbound traffic, a stop sign for westbound traffic, and refreshed and enhanced stop lines.

MLA for Dawson Trail Bob Lagasse says the last accident to occur at the intersection came to his attention immediately.
