Premier Greg Selinger says he has no intention of slowing down on any of his government's campaign promises over the next four years. This week's throne speech promises some major spending in areas like health care, education and hydro power.

Selinger admits they will need to manage the province's recourses carefully, but they intend to remain focused on the needs of our province.

He says the NDP government has a four year mandate on everything it promised, and they intend to fulfill those promises within that time frame.

Meanwhile, the Premier is making no apologies for starting up the Legislative session so soon after the provincial election. The opposition has said the upcoming legislative session comes too soon after the election, and is only the minimum eight days. Selinger says they want to get going on the promises his party made during the election.

The throne speech also outlined the government's commitment to the BiPole III project. However, the opposition Tories wanted to know why the Throne Speech talked about BiPole III running down the west side of Lake Winnipeg instead of the west side of Lake Manitoba. Selinger suggested the error was a typo.

In addition to BiPole III, the province intends to build new hydro generating capacity, including the Keeyask and  Conawapa dams, in partnership with first nations.
