There was a fatal motorcycle collision in the RM of Springfield Thursday evening and now police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that may have been involved.

At approximately 11 pm, officers from Oakbank and Beausejour RCMP responded to a collision between a vehicle and motorcycle along Provincial Road 213, near Lornehill Road, which is just east of Highway 59.

Investigators believe the motorcycle was travelling west when it was struck from behind by a vehicle being driven by a 16-year-old male from the RM of East St. Paul.

The 71-year-old motorcyclist was thrown from the bike. He was struck by a second westbound vehicle, driven by a 30-year-old female from Portage. Police believe he may have been hit by a third, eastbound vehicle but that driver did not stop at the scene.

Anyone with information that could help identify this individual is asked to contact Oakbank RCMP.

The motorcyclist, a man from the RM of East St. Paul was pronounced dead on scene.

It is unknown if alcohol was a factor. The investigation continues.
