The outdoor pleasure skating rink will be next to the T.G. Smith Arena

There will be a change in location for one of the outdoor rinks in Steinbach this year.

Russ Dyck, head of Parks and Recreation, says the pleasure skating rink that has been at the Jake Epp Library for a number of years will be moved. He explains, "The pleasure skating rink, which has been at the library for the last couple of years, we're looking at probably moving that to the other side of the arena on Elmdale where we have our Community Garden, in that area. One of the factors is the library construction is a bit of an issue this winter. The new location will probably be better in the long term, it's a little closer for the guys to flood it and so forth, the maintenance will be a little easier."

Dyck adds the shinny hockey rink will be at its usual location next to Centennial Arena. And the city will also set up some community skating rinks throughout the city.

Meanwhile, Dyck says the toboggan slide at Abe's Hill in L.A. Barkman Park has been busy already this fall but mild weather the past few days has melted most of the snow.

The toboggan slide at Abe's Hill is quiet again due to melting conditions.
