The Steinbach Pistons added some offensive punch with the acquisition of 20-year-old forward Zach Power from the London Nationals of the GTJHL.

Power says it wasn't guaranteed he would be moved ahead of the deadline but when it happened, he was excited and relieved. " It was something that was being worked on a for a while and when it finally happened, I was just really excited. I have never been to Manitoba and I'm excited."

Walking into a new situation can be tough but Power says he felt welcomed immediately. "As soon as I got there, they welcomed me in. This team, you can tell are just a great group of guys. It was a pretty easy transition. I already know Killer (Bryce Kilbourne) and Peps (Quinton Pepper) from London. The whole thing was just awesome, it's a real great group."

After being told of the trade, Power didn't waste any time getting to Southeastern Manitoba. "It really got down to the wire. I got traded one hour away from the deadline. I packed my bags and flew out 8 hours later. It was a short time to get ready and I for sure forgot a lot of things but I just wanted to get here as fast as I could. I'm super excited to joint his team."

Not only does Power have a friendship with Pepper but they are now billet brothers. He won't be dishing any secrets about his teammate though. Not yet anyway. "I won't sewer him just yet" Power says with a laugh. "Give me a couple weeks."

Power will make his Steinbach Pistons debut Friday night vs the Swan Valley Stampeders. The game will be broadcast on MIX 96 and SteinbachOnline.com with the pre-game show at 7:15 pm and the puck drop at 7:30 pm.
