Despite holding a perfect 3-0 record in shootouts heading into Friday's game with the Selkirk Steelers, the Steinbach Pistons couldn't find the win, falling 3-2 in a shootout.

The Pistons played a strong game despite the overtime loss, outshooting Selkirk 35-26.  James Shearer gave the Pistons the lead late in the first period, as the MJHL's Rookie of the Month for October scored his 4th goal of the season with just 16 seconds left before the intermission.

The second period saw just one goal, as Tyler Edwards tied the game for Selkirk on one of the Steelers eight power plays in the game.  The Pistons scored first in the third period, as Ryan Carlson scored his first career MJHL goal five minutes into the final regulation period.  The lead wouldn't last however, as Selkirk's Rhett Lough matched Carlson's goal with just over 10 minutes to go in the period.

Neither team could solve the game in the rest of the third period or in overtime, which meant the game was headed to a shootout.  Both teams had yet to lose a shootout this year, as Steinbach 3-0 and Selkirk was 1-0.  Although Steinbach entered the shootout with more season shootout wins to their name, it was Selkirk who left the ice with the extra point, outscoring Steinbach 2-0.

The overtime loss drops the Pistons record to 13-6-2, while Selkirk improved to 9-10-1.  The two teams meet again Saturday night at the TG Smith Centre in Steinbach.  Puck drop is at 7:30pm.
