The Steinbach Pistons made 9 selections during the 2023 MJHL draft that was held Sunday.

Prior to the draft day, the Pistons moved forward Neo Kiemeny to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines for a 2023 3rd-round draft pick and future considerations.

General Manager and Head Coach Paul Dyck shared a little insight about each player that was picked to join Steinbach.

1st Round - Brady Turko

"Brady is a dynamic forward with excellent vision and passing ability. We thought he was one of the best playmakers in the draft. He's a wizard with the puck, plays with an edge, and creates chances regularly."

2nd Round - Blake Farthing

"Blake is a tenacious forward who plays well on both sides of the puck. He thinks the game well, makes plays with the puck and competes very hard. A 200-foot player that contributes in all facets of the game that we are really excited about."

2nd Round - Kasen Mateychuk

"Kasen is a big, mobile defenseman with good feet. He had an outstanding year in Eastman. As an underage, he was one of their top defensemen. He plays in all situations, moves the puck well, and is an excellent defender."

3rd Round - Tate Dolinsky

"Tate is a high-end defenseman that controls the game from the backend and is very poised with the puck. An impressive player that plays a mature game for someone his age."

4th Round - Brant Catellier

"Brant is a very athletic goalie who we were very high on. He plays at the top of his crease, competes for every puck, and reads the play well."

5th Round - Wyatt Stinton

"Wyatt is another high-end forward who has a very high ceiling. He's a dynamic player that can put up points wherever he plays and is difficult to defend against."

5th Round - Ben Brambilla

"Ben is an honest, hard-working player with a motor that doesn't stop. He's an excellent forechecker with good hockey sense and we think more minutes this coming year will grow his offensive game."

6th Round - Hayden Turner

"Hayden is a physical, in-your-face winger that is hard to play against. He's a great skater with good puck skills and loves being around the opponent's crease looking for rebounds and causing havoc."

7th Round - Matthew Gard

"Matthew is a big, skilled, and fast forward that plays the right away. He contributes at both ends of the ice. He has the potential to play the game for a long time."

8th Round - Pass
