A man from Pansy is wanted by police, after ramming a stolen car into the Giant Tiger building in Steinbach on Sunday but also hitting a civilian car and RCMP officer.

On Sunday at 3:05 pm, Steinbach RCMP was notified that a vehicle stolen on Friday in Vita was parked in the parking lot near Giant Tiger. 

RCMP attended and attempted to apprehend the individual involved.

Police say the male driver, later identified as 32-year-old Steven Wiebe of Pansy, reversed the car into the Giant Tiger building, then drove forward into a police cruiser and civilian car numerous times. Wiebe then accelerated at a high rate of speed, hitting the civilian car and striking an RCMP officer. 

The officer was later treated and released from hospital.

Steinbach RCMP has issued a warrant for Wiebe, who is currently wanted on numerous charges including, dangerous driving, driving while prohibited, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Wiebe was last seen driving a stolen black Mazda 3 with Manitoba license plate J32648.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old female from Steinbach was taken into custody and is facing numerous charges.
