Two online conferences will be held in the coming days to provide more information about the COVID-19 vaccination program.

On Thursday, June 17, the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its online Town Hall Forum to discuss Manitoba's Reopening Plan. The members-only event will run from 12-1pm and will feature Steinbach MLA and Acting Health Minister Kelvin Goertzen and Dr. Curtis Krahn as the resource persons.

The other online conference will take place the following week on June 24, Thursday at 6:30 pm. Billed as a Vaccine Town Hall, the event is open to the public. Those interested to attend and ask questions can register at https://www.manitobavaccine.ca/townhall/town-hall-june-24.

The Town Hall will feature a panel of physicians which also includes Krahn, joined by Dr. Jayson Barkman, Dr, Chris Burnett and provincial lead for family medicine Dr. José François. AM 1250’s Michelle Sawatzky will be hosting the event.

Asked about what he hopes the Town Hall will accomplish, Dr. Krahn was straightforward in his reply.

"That's what I hope will come out of this: that we're going to be able to reassure people, that people are going to understand the importance of it, and that people will accept it and hopefully get the vaccine," he explains.

"But then for those -- and I hope it's very few -- who don't get the vaccine, I hope that we, as a society can say 'we understand you' and we're still going to be loving and compassionate towards each other."

The Vaccine Town Hall is organized by Doctors Manitoba which represents all 3,000 plus physicians in the province. Doctors Manitoba also created the website ManitobaVaccine.ca to provide reliable information and answers for Manitobans about the COVID-19 vaccines.
