Kleefeld Fire Department was called to an old barn on fire approximately three miles east and half a mile south of Kleefeld Wednesday night.

The call came in at about 9:20 pm. Kleefeld District Fire Chief John Schroeder says a couple of old abandoned barns burned to the ground. He notes their main concern was there were many sparks flying around so they had to make sure they didn't start other fires in the surrounding grass that could've spread to the nearby HyLife hog barns.

Schroeder adds nobody lives in the yard and they are unsure of the cause of the fire.

"There were still live wires in the yard so chances are it could've been electrical."

Schroeder says the Grunthal Fire Department was called to help supply water and extra man power to monitor the blaze.

Schroeder adds the Office of the Fire Comissioner would most likely not be called out.
