The Mayor of Niverville says 2017 was a very busy year with many projects getting underway.

Myron Dyck says there were dozens of projects that town council and staff planned and executed.

"I was looking back at what happened this last year and if I was to look back at the amount of hours that council would have put in at meetings and the amount of hours that staff would have put in planning and the execution of those plans it is probably the most hours in any one year that council and staff would have put in based on the amount of projects and the scope of those projects."

Dyck says there were a number of very significant projects in 2017 that have been very intensive.

"In May and June the announcement comes out for the high school and so significant work then starts to go into the school. We opened the Open Health Clinic, the life lease opened this year for our senior living. Our water source is in the process, it should be finished by March but started just a few months ago."

Dyck says the also started a rebuild of 6th Avenue, continued sidewalk repairs on Main Street, and completed a park in the Highlands development. He thanks his fellow councilors and town staff for all the hard work they put in. He adds council will have to be careful not to overwork town staff in 2018.
