The Town of Niverville has named Fire Chief Ferd Klassen's successor.

Keith Bueckert will be replacing Klassen, who is retiring at the end of the year after spending 26 years in the fire department.  The town also set a first by appointing Deputy Fire Chiefs, a task generally left to the Fire Chief.  The two Deputies are Stan Hiebert, who has 17 years of experience, and Brad Wasilinchuk who has been in the department for three and a half years.  Klassen is very pleased with all three appointments, and he says the Niverville Fire Department is in good shape moving forward.

"Things are looking really good.  We have a number of new faces in there and the department has been run fairly tight for a number of years now.  It'll be a cake walk for these guys, they're all experienced and knowledgeable guys.  They're all guys who are committed to the community and the people who live in the community.  It's a win-win situation for the rate payers of Niverville."

Bueckert echoes Klassen's sentiments.

"We're in very good shape.  We have a good nucleus of young and experienced people that bring a lot of energy to our department.  I'm very happy with the appointments of our Deputy Chiefs, they bring a lot of experience as well."

There are still a few openings in the fire department, and applications can be found at the town office.
