We need to be a little more careful with our food these days.  A health inspector from Steinbach says as the temperature rises it becomes more important to properly prepare our food, especially meat.  Greg Stevenson says for starters you never want to defrost your meat at room temperature.  You want to defrost it in the fridge because that prevents bacteria from growing.  Also when barbequeing you want to take a clean plate for the cooked meat rather than putting it back on the one you used for the raw meat.  And Stevenson urges us to make sure the meat is done, especially hamburgers and chicken.  Finally if you are bringing meals to the field or going on a picnic you want to use ice packs to keep things like meat and potato salad cold.
