Registration for minor sports like baseball, soccer, football and softball all starts taking place this time of year. Eddy Noll from Hanover Kickers says they are still waiting for some expected applications and he thinks that's because of all the snow still left on the ground.

"I think we are expecting about 600 players, that's what we've had. But I think with all the snow we've had people aren't quite in soccer mode yet either. Our registration runs until the end of the week, March 22. We usually extend it a day or two for some late comers. Go online www.hanoverkickers.com and register while you can".

Steinbach Minor Baseball organizer Mike Kehler says they too are waiting for registration forms to file in. He says they want to start making teams by the end of the month. Kehler adds that reminding people to register and making the teams is the easy part. He says for them finding coaches can be very challenging.

"That's always a struggle in every sport and ours as well. We'd love to have non-parent coaches. That is usually difficult to find because people have so much going on in their lives. It's always something we have a difficult time finding. We also need ump's. If we don't have umpires we can't play. That's another thing, if there is people out there who want to get involved, earn a little bit of money and also help out kids in something they love doing that would be great".

Noll agrees with the coaching situation and notes that Hanover Kickers has trouble filling all the coaching spots as well.

Information on spring and summer sports and registration can be found at the City of Steinbach's website

Noll adds that there are beautiful recreational facilities in Steinbach including a new soccer park. He hopes parents will register soon so their children take advantage of these opportunities.
