Part of the roof tore clean off the old Niverville Arena as severe thunderstorms rolled through the area on Saturday.

Niverville Mayor Myron Dyck says early in the evening a wind gust took off the roofing on the north half of the arena.

"It would have been the skin we call it or the metal shell. You have the hard surface roof and then you put your wood slats down and then you attach your metal to those wood slats and the wood slats and the metal and everything just pulled right out of what it had been attached to.”
