Marchand is going through a growth spurt that just won't quit. La Broquerie Reeve Claude Lussier says the community has gone from about 75-100 people 20 years ago to about 300 people today. And he adds that number could double again in the next five to ten years, based on what developers are working on now. "Marchand West has approval for another 89 lots for development and they are building the roads right now. There's another request on the slate for another 40 lots subdivision in Marchand. It could could end up being fairly strong, viable community over time."

Lussier says that's pretty impressive.

He notes, "If, in the next five years, all those lots get filled, we'd be looking at another 200 to 250 units that would make the population of Marchand almost double from what it is today. Over time you could see Marchand with 500, 600, even 700 people."

Lussier says some of the big attractions that are drawing people to the area are large, treed lots(below) and its location near snowmobile and quad trails along with fishing and hunting.
