The provincial government intends on lowering education taxes in the coming year.

Changes to the school system brought on by the Manitoba K-12 Education Review that were deferred because of the COVID-19 pandemic are back on the horizon. The original plan was to implement them in March but, for obvious reasons, Premier Brian Pallister says his government chose to hold off.

“We’re delaying the intro of some of these things just because there is enough going on in the lives of people in the frontlines of education and we don’t want to add the additional complexity.”

es very very much,” states the premier. “So we are going to get started, in the new year, with taking that burden off of the shoulders of Manitoba families at a time when many will really appreciate having a little more money on the kitchen table as we come out of Covid”

He hopes the incoming changes will benefit homeowners and business owners as well as the students who continue to learn and grow in Manitoba schools.
