Tracey Pankratz with the Library's November Calander

November is NaNoWriMo or National Novel Writing Month. Around the world authors and wannabe authors will be contributing every day to a minimum 50,000 word goal. The Jake Epp Library in Steinbach will be participating too by hosting a few different events this month. They kicked off NaNoWriMo with a launch party on October 30th. Program Coordinator Tracey Pankratz says "its an event where we want to encourage authors or wannabe authors to come here and get excited about writing a novel in one month. Minimum of 50,000 words, its just to get them writing".  She adds that this is an opportunity for people who may have only thought about writing a novel to give it a try.

Pankratz adds that "its low key, really not supposed to be high pressure, its just supposed to get the words flow. Come and have fun and explore your creative side".

Writers can register online and submit their work as they go or by 12:59 PM on November 30th. If a work of 50,000 words or more is submitted by that time the writer is crowned a "winner". Pankratz notes that there is a local writers group that has participated in the past but she is hoping that the library's event will attract more local writers to join the NaNoWriMo community.
