A homegrown animated feature film will make its big-screen debut in Steinbach Saturday afternoon.

Curtis Nordstrom began animating back in 2016. Since then he says he has made over 60 animated shorts films featuring a variety of his original characters in the North Stream Universe, a world he created.

Nordstrom says he has been working on his feature film The Invincible Man full time since April of last year. He says it has been a labour of love.

“We had some voice actors come in, my brother helped with some of the story work and a couple of character designs but other than that, sound engineering, writing the script, I voiced some characters, directing, soundtrack, animating, character design, a lot of that is on my shoulders.”

In the world of The Invincible Man, a company called AlexTec makes superheroes, and they've done such a good job that no more super villains exist. That is of course until a new villain arises who is willing to use lethal force and many heroes either fall at his hands or retire. The Invincible Man follows main character Matt as he strives to become a superhero and overcome his fear of death by building an invincible suit of armour.

Nordstrom says he is incredibly excited to show his creation to the public.

“It is super exciting. If 14-year-old me, if he found this out, he would lose his mind. I always say that I would have never dreamed this could happen, this is beyond what you could ask for. You don't really expect these kinds of things to happen.”

Even though Nordstrom has been fully immersed in every aspect of the Invincible Man for months, he still enjoys sitting back and watching the movie from beginning to end.

Coming in at 56 minutes long The Invincible Man will debut at Keystone Cinema at 1 P.M. Saturday afternoon and tickets will be available at the door.
