Learning institutions across the province have been adopting new methods of offering programming

“We’ve done a big transition from the way we were delivering our programs to an alternative and an online environment,” says Public Relations Officer for Red River College Connor Llyod.

Despite the deluge of programs delivered digitally Llyod says his school is not overwhelmed.

“We made the decision to deliver our spring and summer terms through different means throughout the summer months,” he assures.

One issue that has arisen is that of student support. Llyod says the school has released some support funds for those dealing with financial issues as a result of COVID-19 safety measures.

“Our alumni and donor community and our staff, they’ve been generous to support that fund and we’re now reaching out to the community again,” says Llyod.

A sentiment shared by President of Steinbach Bible College Rob Reimer who admits not being able to meet face-to-face with donors and the natural downturn in the economy as a challenge for them moving forward.

Still, the President remains upbeat sharing they “shifted everything to online offerings, which was fairly easy for us because we have three accredited online BA’s”.

Reimer says his staff is taking things in stride acknowledging the unpredictability of the situation and took courage in the way they have responded.

“They have done just a marvelous job of seeing this through, so I’m very proud of our team.”
