The pride of Ste. Anne, Jocelyne Larocque, has been chosen second overall in the inaugural Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) draft.

Larocque was chosen by Toronto to add to their defensive line-up which already includes Canadian National teammate Renata Fast.

The name of the Toronto team, its colours, and home venue has yet to be announced.

Larocque previously played in the Canadian and Western Women's Hockey Leagues and most recently with the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association which is now part of the PWHL. As a Canadian National team member, she has two Olympic gold medals, an Olympic silver, and multiple World Championship medals to her name. 

The draft held on Monday, September 18 places players on rosters on six league-owned teams in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, New York, Boston, and Minneapolis-Saint Paul.

The PWHL season begins in January 2024.
