A proposed large housing development for Kleefeld has been approved by Council for the Rural Municipality of Hanover.

Bosco Holdings Inc applied for permission to construct four 16-unit two storey townhouse style buildings at 54 Friesen Avenue. The proposal called for 147 parking stalls plus 32 garages.

whether Kleefeld has the amenities to handle this growth. At least one resident feared the loss of property value this might create.

At the public hearing, applicant Stefan Hodelmann assured Council that this development will not take away the small community feeling that currently exists in Kleefeld. He notes based on conversations he has had with a staff member at the Kleefeld School, there is adequate space inside that building to handle additional children that might live in this development. Further, he said an appraiser has told him that the size of this development will not impact the property value of neighbours.

Council agreed to have their Planning Committee study the proposal before sending it back to Council for a vote.

Council has now given unanimous approval, allowing the development.

"Council approved it because the zoning was there from the beginning of the development," notes Hanover Reeve Stan Toews.

He says over the years there have been other developers who have been approved for housing at that site, yet those projects never got off the ground.

In response to some of the concerns from residents, Toews says the developer has done his homework.

"There is room in schools and the traffic is not going to be a real big issue," he says.

Toews says any parking concerns along Friesen Avenue can be addressed with signage.
