The Trans-Canada Highway remains closed at Deacon's Corner, on the eastern outskirts of Winnipeg, after the collision of two semi transport trucks around 12 Midnight.

RCMP report one of the trucks was hauling two trailers carrying 56,000 litres of gasoline and one of them ruptured, spilling a large amount of fuel. Police closed the highway, the nearby rail line and evacuated a nearby gasoline station and hotel as a precaution. Investigation determined the gasoline tanker was travelling eastbound and turning north onto PR 207 when it collided with a westbound semi. There were no injuries.

Officers say the highway will remain closed for awhile as the scene is cleaned up.
