St. Joachim School in La Broquerie has ended up with some damage as a result of the thunderstorm Sunday night. Fire Chief Al Nadeau says they got the alarm just after 11:00 p.m. and describes what happened.

"What we found there was the roof was leaking because the construction crew, the tarps they put down flew away with the wind so when the rain came, it poured water everywhere, in the principal's office, the mechanical room, probably the worst square footage where you would want a leak like that."

Nadeau says school and insurance officials are doing assessments to determine the impact of damage and whether it will affect the start of classes next week.

Meanwhile, Nadeau says they were also called to two locations where trees fell across hydro lines, one in the Funk Drive area and another along Raymond Giroux Drive.

"What we do on busy nights like that, we can't wait for Hydro because Hydro is so busy they are not going to come for every tree on a power line. So if you do see fire tape around a hydro scene, if it is cordoned off, just stay away from it. It has been called in. Hydro will come when they have time."

Nadeau says the reason people should not to go near those hydro lines is because they could be live.
