Motorcycle Procession, 'Missing Man Formation'

More than eighty riders took part in a motorcycle procession Tuesday in honour of the late John Friesen.

The 63 year old, who co-owned Friesen Drillers died in a motorcycle accident July 21 near Maple Creek Saskatchewan.

Good friend Randy Wolgemuth says it is a tradition that when a motorcycle rider dies, fellow riders take part in a procession to the funeral.

The ride started at Friesen Drillers shortly after 10am, proceeded down Highway 12 before turning west at Highway 52. The bikes continued down Highway 52 before parking at Southland Church, the location of the funeral.

Near the front of the police-led procession were the riders who were with Friesen at the time of his death. There was a vacant spot, symbolizing the loss of Friesen.
