Evander Kane scored his 18th goal of the season 69 seconds into overtime to lift the Winnipeg Jets past the Los Angeles Kings 1-0. Chris Mason, who was making his first start in net since December 17th, stopped 31 shots in recording the shutout.

Forward Jim Slater did not dress on Thursday. He took a heavy hit in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche. Bryan Little missed his fifth straight game as he's recovering from a foot injury. Dustin Byfuglien also sat out the win over the Kings.

Winnipeg (18-14-5) is tied with New Jersey and Toronto for sixth place in the National Hockey League's Eastern Conference. The Jets will face the Maple Leafs on New Year's Eve at MTS Centre.
